July 21, 2010

It has been almost too hot to fish and the fishing has slowed a lot the last few days.
Walleye are very reluctant to feed in the day so, we decided to take a crappie trip to the Sac River.

Here are the Turner brothers with a couple of crappie we caught today.

Fall will be here soon!   Let's Go Fishin'......JR

July 9, 2010

Walleye are being a bit stubborn, but managed to catch a few. Crappie were biting good!

This is Vince with a nice one, yesterday, and Bradley's crew with walleye and crappie, today!

July 8th, 2010

Walleye bite has slowed the last few days....I hope they just took an extended holiday vacation.

Crappie bite is very good and seems to be getting better each day........

July 1, 2010

This month is starting off good, also.

This is Ken Holman and grandsons from Nebraska with some of the catch today....... you will have to ask Kevin how the bluegill bite was..............

Good job guys....thanks for a good day..........JR

June 30, 2010

We will remember June as a good fishing month this year.
Although the east wind seemed to slow the bite, here is Alex with one of the 3 walleye he landed. Way to go, Alex!!!!

What will July bring?   Let's Go Fishin'.....and find out........JR

June 27th, 2010

Took the day off yesterday and slipped out for a while this morning. Tried some spots where the wind was not so bad and caught this 5# er and released it.

Caught a few other fish and came home to relax......I'll hit it hard tomorrow.....

Let's Go Fishin'..................JR

June 25, 2010

The crappie and walleye are in their summer feeding patterns strong now......We had 25 crappie and a limit of walleye, yesterday. Debbie and Terry Miller from Laurie,MO had seven nice walleye including these two 4# fish today. Should have had more, but......Terry spent too much time catching catfish!!!!!!

If you would like a mess of big Bluegill, now is the time !!!!!!

Let's go fishin'........JR

June 22,2010...

June 14-2010

After morning rain and storms, we managed to catch some walleye, catfish, bass, and blue gill for the Johnson's fish fry.

Here is Sandy  with one of the walleyes.

June 12, 2010

As you can see, Austin and Gary had a great time catching bass. The walleye and crappie also were biting.

They will be having a fish fry soon......those fish are tearing it up!!!!!!

Let's Go Fishin'........JR

June 11, 2010

Larry and Jean McFarland from Oklahoma enjoyed a beautiful June day by spending it after Missouri walleye.

We dropped Jean off at noon and went back looking for the big one! Had 6 or 7 keepers and kept these 4 for there supper......

Thanks for another good day and Let's Go Fishin'.....JR

June 9, 2010

Another beautiful day on Lake Stockton.  We had a lot of nice large mouth, Kentucky and this healthy smallmouth bass while walleye fishing.
The bite was steady and these were kept for Jim and Ed's dinner!
The walleye are growing rapidly and there should be no problem catching multiple limits of legal fish by mid-July.....

SO.............Let's Go Fishin'..................................JR

June 4, 2010

It is starting........the summer walleye pattern is looking good!  Here are 3 out of the two limits from today.
We are still catching a lot of small fish and now the larger ones are starting............

May 24 thru June 1.....

With the holiday weekend bringing out a lot of traffic, I stayed off the lake!  However we did catch a lot of walleye and bass on a half day trip Monday morning. Water is continuing to fall from the flooded brush and more fish will be caught as it does. Looking like we will have a great walleye and crappie season this year!

Let's Go Fishin'        JR

May 23, 2010

Well, the lake is up to 8 ft above normal! The crappie and walleye are feeding in the flooded brush and are hard to get out.
They have started releasing water today, so, the fishing should get better as the falling water pulls them out of their hiding places.
Decided to throw at the bass and here is one of the day's catches.

Let's Go Fishin'.....JR

May 21, 2010

Despite 10 3/4 " of rain and the lake coming up 6 feet this week, we are still able to catch some nice crappie and a few walleye.
As the water warms and clears up, fish will move back out of the flooded brush.
This should improve the catch rates. Here are Richard and Brian Beirne in some crappie and walleye action.....

Let's Go Fishin'...................JR

May 17, 2010

Crappie have finished their spawn for the most part and are scattered on the main lake.
Walleye are also scattered and trolling will catch both. Drift fishing has been producing some nice catches, also!

Here is Randy Beecher with a nice crappie. Also had a couple of walleye to add to the stringer!

Let's Go Fishin'       JR

May 13, 2010

Another round of storms and heavy rain didn't help, but we were able to catch a few for dinner this afternoon.

First picture is Mr. Mike Coffey's basket of crappie and a walleye.

And then Mr. Larry's battle with a big one..... on his 8' Outlaw Crappie and Walleye Pole.

   Ready to go?????    Let's Go......JR

May 11, 2010

Had a beautiful day after some rough weather last night. May have slowed the bite a little,
but managed some nice crappie and several walleye.........getting better........

Let's Go Fishin'.............JR

May 10, 2010

While the weather is still in the early spring mode, the fishin' is pretty good when you find a place out of the wind!

The walleye are biting well with several days this last week seeing 20 to 35 caught each day. However, they are still running small with only a few of them legal size.  Crappie are finishing their spawn on the upper lake and are moving out a bit deeper. Bass are spawning but are having a tough go as water temps are back into the upper 50's after several cool nights.......

Will have some pictures for you this week........Have been getting accustomed to the BIG Skeeter!

Super populations of crappie, bass and walleye look to make a great year!!!!!

Let's Go Fishin'      JR

May 5, 2010

Despite another front coming, we managed to get a limit of crappie and were just short of the walleye limit.

Had a great day and the new Skeeter got it's first workout!

Ron Felker was camera shy, so, sent a picture of the Skeeter instead!

 Let's Go Fishin'............JR

May 3, 2010

Walleye and bass today with a few crappie. These fronts every other day are not helping the bite!

Here is our son, Samuel, with a top water largemouth, and Mike Coffey with a walleye.

New boat is up and running!!!!!.........

 Let's Go Fishin'       JR

April 28, 2010

Wind is giving us problems, but still managed some small walleye, a few bass and some crappie.

Warmer weather is back so, the bite should get going strong now. Don't forget, you will find your most active fish in the shallowest water!

   Let's Go Fishin'........JR

Apr. 27, 2010

Has been a good run of weather and fishing'. These were taken the last 3 days with many other Bass, Crappie and Walleye.

Also, a few catfish, blugill and even a carp!

Looks like it's going to be a great walleye year and the crappie fishing' may be the best we've had in years.

We are adding a new Skeeter WX 2100 to our fleet to make your trip with us safer and more comfortable!
Now we can take a party of 4 with room to

Walleye still slow to overcome our late winter....Crappie and bass still doing good though........

 Let's Go Fishin'         JR

March 17th thru Mar.27th

Crappie are still doing good although they are breaking into smaller schools anticipating warming water.
We had 14" of snow on the 21st and now are receiving alot of rain.
I am afraid that as the water is slowing warming, the walleye will move into the flodded brush to feed
and make tough fishing conditions......
Let's hope the rains slow down and they can soon bring the lake down!
Here are Dennis and John with a couple of their fish........

Let's Go Fishin'         JR

March 16, 2010

Although the weather keeps spring away, some of the fish keep hoping the shallows are warming up. The crappie are very restless, roaming back and forth.and bass are making a move to warming areas. the walleye are still holding back.

It has been a lot of years since our water has remained this cold for so long.
It is usually in the high 40's to low 50's by now and it's only in the 30's on the main lake.
We have been catching good limits of crappie and have picked up some good bass the last few days.
Things should break open if we ever get some spring weather.........

Let's Go Fishin,    Any way! JR

March 15, 2010

Another Crappie day......some on jigs, some on jerkbaits..........Mike Coffey said he shouldn't be seen with a bass......

2-15-10

Crappie still doing great......
Despite water still very cold, fish are starting to migrate shallower.....we are finding alot of fish in same locations, but a bit closer to shore! Walleye are starting to feed better up the lake a ways, so it shouldn't be long until they turn on in the dam area!
Will it ever warm up?  I love winter fishing but this is ridiculous!

Let's Go Fishin'        JR

Feb. 07, 2010
Despite a round of snow every other day,  Crappie fishing has been excellent.

Tom and Craig with four, out of their 2 limits. Even though the water temp is still in the low 30's, the fish are feeding a little shallower.

These new "Sling" baits are working great......

      But, I am ready!!!!!!

Let's Go Fishin' .......JR

Report;  Dec 31,2009

Walleye fishing has been super tough this fall/winter. Crappie are doing fair right now on main lake if you don't mind going deep.  I caught them last trip as deep as 50ft.  That takes patience, but, can be rewarding.  We are having the coldest stretch of weather that we have had in several years.

So, I am expecting good things when the January "thaw" comes....

Remember....Let's Go Fishin....JR          Have a great fishy New Year!!!!

November 01, 2009

I guess the walleye are still feeding at night.
We took advantage of a beautiful, warm, evening with a full moon and caught this 4 pounder.
Missed a couple of others but also caught some nice bass.

The  weather is supposed to settle down this week, so I may have a better report later.....

Let's Go Fishin'....JR

10-18-09

I have enjoyed a few days off, but ready to go again.

Boy, did we get rain! My rain gauge holds 7 1/2 inches and it was running over when I checked it.

That was just in 24 hrs.  The lakes are all up a bunch with alot of fish back in the flooded brush.

Crappie and bass are still the best catch right now.  Walleye should start gathering on points again soon.
Water temp is now down in the 50's with all this cool weather.

We are not getting any stable weather, so, the fishing is good one day and not-so-good the next.
This is a beautiful time to enjoy the scenery when the bite is slow.

So remember,    Let's Go Fishin'..........JR

10-07-09

Here's Larry and Dan with today's Crappie catch.
They took thier limit back home with them along with tired backs.  Fishin' is good.

Larry and Dan, from Oklahoma, with some of their limits of Crappie, today!
Walleye are starting to move in, but are still somewhat slow to bite.

Bass are still going good, with top water still providing good action.
We still have a few October dates left....better hurry if you want in on the fall color too!!!

Let's GO Fishin'      JR

Sept.10 thru Sept. 17

Walleye fishing is picking up  with alot of small fish.  Crappie are also feeling the autumn-like nights and are feeding better.

Bass fishing continues to be the talk of the lake!  Good catches with lots of nice sized fish!!!!
Here are a few pictures of this week's action.

August 26th

Crappie days are always fun! Here are 4 of 15 caught on the river today with Larry and Ed.
It was a slow bite, but persistance pays off.  River rats, like me, are always happy on the river!

Fall bite is coming soon.  Let's GO!!!!!  Fishin'   JR

August 19 th thru August 21st

Crappie are doing pretty well this week. We have had several limits.
A lot of fish still just under legal, but this fall and winter should provide great crappie fishing.

There are also alot of 12 to 14 inchers to be caught!!!  Walleye are still tough on the main lake,
but I really expect that to change soon as the water is cooling down.

 Let's Go Fishin'.........JR

August 18

Boy, we are once again having some crazy weather! It is really causing difficulty in finding a pattern. One day the crappie will be 8 to 10 ft deep and the next day they may be 20ft or deeper.  The thermocline layer is down near 30 ft.  That is almost twice as deep as normal years!  Walleye fishing continues to be tough with only sporadic catches very early, sundown, or after dark.  Today we caught several crappie, with alot of 9 1/2 inch to 10 inch fish.

Here is Hannah, my daughter, with one of her crappie she caught this evening. She may be our next guide in the family!!!!

 Let's Go Fishin'........JR

Aug 1st thru Aug 3rd

Have been catching alot of crappie. Wish more were like this one!  Walleye bite is picking up a little with alot of sub-legal fish caught.

July 30

Walleye fishing has been very tough so we took a little break! Crappie are biting well, however,
alot of under-sized fish are being caught here on the lake....

SO, we decided to try the river today!  Here are 6 of the 30 fish that we kept today......

They seem to always be biting somewhere...

Let's go fishin'......JR

July 4th thru July 10th

With the holiday weekend, we spent little time on the water. Crappie are doing well with a lot of sub-legal fish. That is a good sign that fishing will be good for the next few years. At times we are catching nice 13 to 15 inch crappie too!  The walleye seem to be taking advantage of a good aquatic insect hatch. This is happening at the time of a full moon, so, most activity has been at night while I sleep!  Day bite should pick back up soon!

 Let's Go Fishin'      JR

July 1st....

Things are a bit crazy this week. The walleye and crappie seem to have taken a vacation for a few days. Folks are calling me asking, "Are you catching any fish?"   It has been tough for about 3 days, Moon is going full, water has cooled after getting really warm last week.

I think the fish are confused.  One good note, though, you can really have a bluegill extravaganza. They are everywhere.    The walleye bite should turn on again soon. We did catch a nice walleye and some 13" crappie late today.

Even if the bite is tough, Let's go fishin'    JR

March 28 thru April 5th

With these strong fronts coming thru every 36 to 48 hours, the poor fish don't know what to do.
It's looking like a lot of walleye have spawned, but we are still picking up a few males.
All the fishing has slowed, but as soon as we get some warm, stable weather, things should break open.
Hoping for a better week this week.

EVEN WHEN IT'S TOUGH,  LET'S GO FISHING........JR

March 20 thru 27th

Crazy weather is taking its toll! Walleye are ready to spawn on lower lake. Some may already have.

The bite is unpredictable
to say the least.

We had a mini- tournament with Ken's crew from Oklahoma, last Saturday.

Congratulations to Rick who showed us up on the bass
to take the win and received a 7'2'' Outlaw Crappie & Walleye Pole.

I still am shaking it off!!!

Will they now think Donnie is the best Guide on my Crew?

Crappie were moving shallow, but this cold storm will hurt.   Bass are still doing good.

LETS GO FISHING!   JR

March 16 thru 19

Walleye are about ready to spawn. Catching mostly males in the 2.5 to 4.5 # range.

Bass are still good and moving shallow!  Crappie are scattered with reports of a lot of frustration trying to stay on fish,
however, some are catching good numbers.

LET'S GO FISHING  ..... IT'S MY FAVORITE THING TO DO!!!!!!!

March 11 thru 15th......

Walleye still doing good.. Last 3 trips we averaged 10 walleye each evening up to 6.5 #.Bass has slowed a little, but fish are moving shallower even though water has been slow to warm up. Haven't had much time to try the crappie.

 Remember.... Keep Fishing.......JR

March 8,9,10th

Walleye fishing is exceptional. Had 7 Monday evening, up to 7#.

MARCH 1st thru MARCH 7th

Walleye fishing has been excellent evenings early in the week. Has slowed some as fish are probably feeding at night with the bright moon.
Should pick back up in the next few days.

Bass bite is maybe as good as I have ever seen on the lower lake. Late afternoon seems best.
Presentations must be slow as water temps are just now above 40.

Crappie are also picking up with the larger fish following the shad.

That’s what I’ve been after this week.
